Although many of us have seen a marked change in the weather in the last few days, the provisional early statistics show that for the UK as a whole it will be the sunniest April on record (figures dating back to 1929) according to The UK Met Office.
Updated: Between the 1st and 27th of April 215.8 hours of sunshine have been recorded, 46% above the average for April, and beating the previous record set in 2015 of 211.9 hours of sunshine. This has been the result of persistent high-pressure systems over or close to the UK resulting in an extended spell of fine, dry and sunny weather since late March.
With a lot of professional Green Keeper and Groundsmen, the dry weather had kept their grass factories at bay during the forced Covid-19 Lockdown so they are thankful but for the home lawn owner most were keen to get to grips with their lawn care tasks whilst they had more spare time at home and in the garden.
If you are able to get the treatment products, now is a great time to apply your lawn fertiliser and weed control tasks and to trim edges and make minor repairs and take advantage of the much needed rainfall.
Keep active and fit and healthy. If you are really busy working from home, your lawn can wait for the rainfall. It is very hardy so look after your family first.
